Social networking portal LinkedIn has become the latest technology company to unveil a new social network for the masses, which it hopes will “change the way people share information” in the age of social media.
The company announced the news Wednesday on its website, which also offers live video and live chat.
It said it has partnered with LinkedIn to make a social network where people can get information directly from one another, and in the process, build stronger bonds with each other.
This means people can share ideas, share experiences, and engage in community building.
It also means that the sharing of content on LinkedIn can be more easily shared, and that users can be seen in a shared timeline.
“Our goal is to give you the tools to create your own personal and professional network,” LinkedIn said in a press release.
“We’re giving you the power to connect with your network.
And we’re giving your network the power of discovery.”
In the coming years, LinkedIn hopes to create a new kind of community, where people from all walks of life can come together, get a sense of who you are, and discover what they’re passionate about.
The social network will be available for users to sign up for and sign in to as well, according to the press release, and will also be used to build community.
For the time being, LinkedIn’s social network is only available for people who have an existing LinkedIn account, but it plans to expand its reach to more users in the future.
“We want to create the new social media network where you and your network are not just like friends but as people, people who are sharing ideas, sharing experiences, connecting with other people and sharing your interests,” LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman said in the press report.
The news comes as other tech giants, including Facebook and Google, also announced their new social platforms.
For instance, Twitter announced that it will open its app to the public this year, and the company also said it will be introducing new features in the coming months to make it easier for people to join its social network.
